Obituary for James Lewis Wallace

Baileyville – James “Jim” Lewis Wallace, 81, died Friday, December 12, 2008 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Jim was born in Baileyville on December 4, 1927, son of the late Churchill and Alice (Scovil) Wallace. He graduated from St. Croix High School, Class of 1945. Upon graduating, Jim entered the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII. He married Jacqueline Campbell in Woodland on November 23, 1946. After serving his country, Jim returned to Baileyville and began his career at the St. Croix Paper Co., where he worked for over 30 years. For several years, he was a member of the Baileyville Town Council and the school board. Jim served on several committees’ with the State of Maine Commission and the Democratic Party. He was a member of the Spednic Club, Quarter Century Club at Georgia Pacific, William T. Wren Post #23 American Legion, and the Good Sam Club RV Group. Jim enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, canoeing, reading, traveling, and spending time with his family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Roselyn Spurling; and three brothers, Ronald, Donald and Richard Wallace. Surviving are his loving wife of 62 years, Jacqueline Wallace; four children, Rhonda Singer and her husband Gary of Baileyville, Stephanie Williams and her husband Raymond of Fredericton, N.B., Kimberly Wallace and her companion Wayne Potter of Virginia Beach, VA, and Valerie Robinson and her husband Jim of Gulf Shores, AL; two sisters, Romelda Wallace of Princeton and Gertrude Lunn of Calais; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a nephew who was like a son, Ronald Wallace and his wife Annette of Baileyville; and many other nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Woodland Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Homes, Calais & Eastport.
