Obituary for Jane Spear Camick

EASTPORT – Jane Spear Camick, 83, died on September 5, 2012 at a Bangor hospital with her family at her side. Jane was born in Eastport on October 1, 1928 to Marion (Wilder) and Charles “Vic” Spear. She attended school in Eastport, graduating from Shead Memorial High School, class of 1947. While there she met Sherman Camick, the man who she would later marry and spend the rest of her life with. Jane and Sherman were married on September 17, 1948 in Eastport where they lived and raised their family; where she taught Sunday school at Blakey Methodist Church, decorated for every holiday enjoyed knitting and adopted many cat over the years. Her greatest enjoyment was being at home with family. Jane passed away just days shy of her 64th wedding anniversary to Sherm, they would both tell you the secret to a lifetime of happiness and many years together is simply two TVs. Jane was a member the Rebecca’s and helped as an election clerk at Eastport polls. She worked many jobs over the years, including both Rivera Packing and B.H. Wilson packing companies and most recently she worked at the Mearl Corporation. In addition to her parents Jane was predeceased by a brother Roy (Bud) Spear. She is survived by her loving husband of over 63 years, Sherman Camick; sons, Philip M. Camick and his wife Carolyn, Richard S. Camick and his wife Tari, all of Eastport; daughter, Louise J. Murry and her husband Mark of Marshfield; grandchildren Philip L. Camick of Eastport, Lyndsey Violette and her husband Lucas of Herman, David Baine and his wife Heather and their son Chandler of Newburgh, Ryan Murry of Machias and Jessica Murry of Eddington and Machias. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 8th at 2:00 p.m. at Hillside Cemetery in Eastport. Donations in Jane’s memory may be made to either Paws Eastport Community Cats, 368 South St., Calais, ME 04619 or the Eastport 4th of July Committee c/o Barbara Hicks, 135 Mahar Lane, Perry, ME 04667 as Jane was the inspiration for many 4th of July parade floats.
