Indian Township – Janet Irene Neptune, 50, died unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, February 14, 2015. She is survived by her two sons, Cordell Hold and Allen Hold; a step-daughter Amy; her mother Jeannette Neptune Parker; brothers Philip Newell, Gordon Newell and fiancé Laura Dana, Kenneth Parker and wife Sue, Christopher M. Neptune, and Christopher M. Parker; sisters Dolly Barnes and husband Gerald, Tammy Neptune, Frances Neptune, Elizabeth Neptune, and Yolanda Neptune; Godchildren, Mihku Sabattus and Frances Soctomah; twenty-four nieces and nephews; and fourteen great-nieces and great-nephews.
Janet was predeceased by her husband Allen Hold; father Moses Neptune; step-father Terrance Parker; sister Bessie Mae Socobasin; and grandparents Frances Richard, and Irene and Lewey Dana.
Janet will be remembered for her bright smile, strong will, and her willingness to share whatever she had. Her kitchen was always open and she will be missed for sharing her food and fresh homemade bread with friends and neighbors alike. Many children of Indian Township will miss her candy apples and “special” Halloween bags.
Janet loved making Passamaquoddy baskets and shared that talent with her family, Wabanaki communities, and others. Her love for her children and her dedication to helping others is her legacy. It is one that will forever evoke fond memories in those that knew her.
Visiting hours will begin 11 a.m. Thursday, February 19, 2015 at her mother’s home, 10 Mihku Lodge Rd., Indian Township, until 10 a.m. Saturday, February 21. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Rob Lupo 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Anne R.C. Church, Peter Dana Point. Burial will follow in the Tribal Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
