Janet E. Niles

November 17, 1936 — September 29, 2023

Calais

Janet Elaine (Wheelock) Niles, 86, peacefully transitioned to her next life in Heaven with our Lord on September 29, 2023, with her loving family by her side.  Janet was born in Calais on November 17, 1936, daughter of Arthur and Florence (Pomeroy) Wheelock.

Janet loved her family most in life and felt truly blessed.  She loved family gatherings, Christmas, Thanksgiving, birthdays, and barbeques.  Janet was always the life of the party with her laughter, quick wit, hugs, smiles, and her love for music and dancing.  She loved to go on boat rides, wave runners, and 4-wheelers with her her children and grandchildren.  She loved spending time at Howard Lake with family.  She often spoke of having a ride in her grandson’s fast mustang.  Janet enjoyed doing word games on her tablet, watching Hallmark movies, especially Christmas movies, bird watching from her swing in the backyard, and became a big NFL fan, especially of the New England Patriots over the past five years, watching nearly every game with family.

Our loving mother is reunited with both her parents, her husband Bill Niles; a brother; three sisters, and the most painful for a mother and grandmother to lose; two sons, William and David, and grandson Dana II.  Surviving are her brother Paul Wheelock and wife Marcia of Calais; brother-in-law James Pike of CT; her sons Kenneth and wife Lois of Calais, Dana and wife Betty Lou of Alexander, and Michael and wife Justina of Alexander; daughter Debra and husband Joel of Calais; her loving grandchildren, Jessica, Tabitha, Katelyn, Kenny II, Chris, Tonya, Austin, Tanika, Brandon, Tyler, David, Warren, and Jamie; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; extended family Barry and Paula of Calais; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Janet’s Life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.  Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Cooper.  Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
