Janice Lea Redding, 83, passed away at Seaport Village in Ellsworth on December 10, 2022, after a long illness. Janice was born September 16, 1939, in Calais, Maine, the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Robb) Redding. Janice lived in Belfast, Calais and Baileyville and graduated from Woodland High School. She also enjoyed spending time at the family's camp on Cathance Lake in Cooper.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol Ann Higgins and her husband, Paul, and Sandra Blaney and her husband, Gerald, as well as her son, Charles (Robbi) Redding. She is survived by her niece, Dacia (Higgins) Klinkerch and her husband, Ed, of China, Maine, and their two children, Anna Mabel Durant and her husband, Derrick, and their son, Derrick, Jr. of Naples, Maine, and Victor Edmund Klinkerch of Portland, Maine. She is also survived by her nephew, Donald Paul Higgins and his wife, Kathy, and their daughter, Keighley Rose, of Brunswick, Maine. Janice leaves behind many close friends and acquaintances in the Calais, Baileyville and Bangor area.
Janice worked as an office manager and receptionist, most recently for the Catholic Diocese in Baileyville until her retirement. Prior to that, she worked for many years at the International Motel in Calais. She loved taking shopping excursions to Bangor with her friends and spending time at the casino. She was an expert cribbage player and a passionate Boston Celtics fan. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, especially for her sense of humor and wit.
