Calais, ME & Islamorada, FL – Jeffrey Charles Wright, 59, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, July 27, 2013. Jeff was born in Passaic, New Jersey on October 16, 1953, the only child of the late Charles and Jeannette (Smeaton) Wright.
Jeff graduated from Nutley High School in Nutley, NJ and attended Ramapo College of New Jersey where he studied botany and ecology. As a young man Jeff was a volunteer Firefighter, Assistant Scout Master of Troop 147, a logger in Oregon and a fishing charter mate in Montauk. Jeffrey was later a Registered Florida State Fishing Boat Captain & Guide and also a Registered State of Maine Hunting and Fishing Guide. He was known as a true adventurer, a lifelong wildlife enthusiast, fisherman, hunter, and avid artifact collector.
Surviving are his loving wife Kate Wright of Calais, ME & Islamorada, FL; four children, Matthew Jeans and his wife Jennifer of Westford, VT. Sarah D’Anto of Gorham, ME, Adam Wright of Islamorada, FL, and Laura Kathleen Wright and her fiancé Daniel Allen of Winooski, VT; four grandchildren, Liberty D’Anto, Ethan and Toby Jeans, and Ammi Allen; his beloved “right-hand man” Troy Doten, and numerous friends.
Visiting hours will be held at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, on Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 1-3pm & 5-7 p.m., with a ceremony in celebration of Jeff’s life beginning at 6 p.m.
