Joan Marie Richardson (Dierks)

Pembroke – Joan Marie Richardson, 76, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer. Joan was born in New York City, NY, on June 28, 1939, daughter of the late Albert Dierks and Laura Dierks Jones. After graduating from high school she continued her education at Southern Adventist University in Tennessee. Joan married and had 3 children in Florida, then later moved to New Hampshire where she worked at the New Hampshire State Hospital. She raised her 3 children as a single parent until meeting George Richardson III and remarried in 1976. Joan and George initially retired to Lubec, Maine in 1987 and later moved to Pembroke, Maine. Joan was an avid gardener and created beautiful outdoor spaces. She was a member of the Pembroke Historical Society, loved Maine Coon cats, and was a talented artist.

Surviving are her husband of 39 years, George F. Richardson III; three children, Diane Daugherty of Windham, NH, Robert Johnson and wife Julia of San Diego, CA, and Candis Stiebel and husband Richard of St. Charles, MO; three grandchildren, Valeria, Cameron, and Katelyn; and three step-children, Michelle Annis and husband Roy of Weeki Wachee, FL, Christine Vassillion and husband Gary of Newnan, GA, and Andrea Cattabriga and husband Mark of Gilford, NH.
