Joel B. Fickett, 65, formally from Baileyville, Maine passed away peacefully at Lakewood Continuing Care Center in Waterville, Maine on September 4, 2024.
Joel was known for his witty personality fueled by his affectionate devotion to his close family and friends. After high school, Joel enlisted in the United States Army where he specialized in wheel and track vehicle maintenance. Joel’s skills and dedication to the Army earned him recognition in an article published by the American military newspaper Stars and Stripes which he was referred to as “Fickett can Fix it!” while stationed in Germany.
Joel cherished any time he could be with his close family and friends. He loved to talk about anything over a cup of coffee, watching movies, traveling, watching the New England Patriots and just about anything outdoors, especially fishing!
Joel is predeceased by his beloved mother Bette (Corbett) Hollingdale, father William “Dale” Fickett and grandparents Florence and William Fickett, Alberta Ingersol and Herbert Corbett. Surviving is his second mum and “narnie” Byrla Besse and Uncle Frank Besse of Merrimack, NH, step-father Dan Hollingdale with his wife Carol of Bangor, ME, brother Jeff Fickett with his wife Cathy and family of East Bend, NC, brother Jim Hollingdale who referred to Joel as his “Bubba” and his wife Liz and family from Waterville, ME, sister Alicia McGregor of Columbus, OH, many cousins and last but never least his dearest friend and comrade Fred Sprague of Orrington, ME.
Joel, in the hearts of those who truly loved you, you will be sadly missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace knowing you were loved by so many. Thank you for the memories.
To respect and honor Joel’s final wishes, there will be private services. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home.
