John G. Curtis Sr., 58, of Dennysville, Maine, passed away peacefully with family at his side on Sunday, September 1, 2024.
At an early age, John lost his mother, and this affected him greatly. He was not a man of many words; his feelings were guarded closely. He considered himself a simple man, a very simple man. His priorities were straight. He possessed a knowledge that cannot be bought, a knowledge that somehow emanated without an effort from his heart. He had a wisdom that defies any elaborate education. He was surely given a very special gift.
John would tell you that his purpose was to be a giver and to help others. He often reminisced about the important things in life, such as family, to be there for one another and that material things are just that, “material”. He was a man of great morals and integrity.
John worked several different jobs throughout the years but probably the most rewarding was his work as a C.N.A. He had a deep respect for the elderly and his heart went out to the elderly and infirmed. He did C.N.A. work up until the point where he became unable to work anymore due to several medical conditions. It just about broke his heart that he couldn’t provide care for others anymore, instead he was the one that required care and that deeply crushed him. He found it very difficult to accept help for himself.
The last few years, John struggled with many health issues, but now he is free from those. He is at peace with the Lord and will be greatly missed by all those who loved and knew him.
He was predeceased by parents, Donald Curtis Sr. and Connie (Jamieson) Curtis; and two brothers, Donald and David Curtis.
He is survived by the “love of his life”, wife Joyce Curtis; his sons, John Curtis Jr. and Eric Curtis; his siblings, brother Stephen and his wife Lida Curtis, sister Doreen (Curtis) Kilton, sister Jeanne (Curtis) Seavey and her husband Gordon, sister Juanita Curtis, brother Corey and his wife Jill Curtis, and sister Bobbie-Jo (Curtis) and her husband Glenn Carver; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service and celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home.
