Obituary for John Martin Dana

Pleasant Point – John Martin Dana, 62, passed away unexpectedly Friday, December 16, 2016. John was born at Peter Dana Point on October 10, 1954, son of the late Albert and Philomene (Lola) Dana. He graduated from Woodland High School in Baileyville and worked for many years as a police officer and probation officer for both Indian Township and Pleasant Point. John later went to school to learn forestry and along with his wife Deanna, owned and operated D&D Logging Company for over 30 years. He was a member of Laborers Union Local 1377 in Bangor, the Eagles Club in Brewer, and was a devoted friend to Bill W. John was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to yard sales.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by his wife Deanna Pehrson-Dana; son-in-law Anthony LeBretton; two brothers, Roger and Charles Dana; and two sisters, Alice Dana and Viola Brown. Surviving are his three children, Melissa LeBretton of Old Town, Sugum Francis and companion Jillian of Pleasant Point, and Philomene Look of Eastport; grandchildren, Alishia, Devon, Sydney, Andrew, Dakota, Autumn, Tayhia, Damien, Alissa, Gus, Alice, Marion, Meaghan and Matthew; a sister Alberta White of Indian Township; two brothers, Samuel Dana and wife Sonja, and Richard Dana and companion Patty; a brother-in-law John Brown, all of Indian Township; special nephews and nieces, Roger and Faithann Brown, Charles and Karen Brown, Ben Dana, Frank and Gloria Cleaves, Holly Cleaves, Paula Cleaves, Lisa and Brian Lafitte, Colleen and Walter Cummings, Wanda and Ralph Doten, Carl Dana, Alexandria Molton, and Serene and Carl Nicholas; special friends, Allison and Cindy Lola and Roland and Susan Newell Sr., all of Pleasant Point; and his faithful canine companion, Muwin.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
