Perry -- John D. Ferguson, 75, died February 25, 2008 at Calais Hospital after a long battle with cancer. He was born December 27, 1932 at West Chester, PA the son of William Cramp Ferguson II and Dorothy (Ewer) Ferguson. As a boy, John and his family summered in Boothbay Harbor where his passion for boating and the ocean began. John attended the University of Virginia and graduated Magna Cum Laude. He was with the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary for 10 years and taught Safe Boating Instruction, B Q classes and did Search and Rescue Missions on Lake Michigan. He was a member of General Electric’s ELFUN Society, a former member of both the Friends of Peavey Memorial Library, and of the Washington County Genealogical Society. He served on the Board of Trustees of Calais Regional Hospital and the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home. Formerly of Mukwonago, WI John retired to Perry to live in his dream home on the ocean with his wife of 33 years, Connie. John was highly respected for his honesty, integrity and intelligence. He was supportive of his community, always purchasing locally when he could. John was predeceased by his parents and a brother William Cramp Ferguson III. Survivors include his wife Connie (Rose) Ferguson, sons Jody and special friend , Kris Fifer of IN, Stephen and his wife Zada of TN, Matthew and his wife Beverly of IN, Scott and his wife Rachel of WI, and Jeff and his wife Donna of WI, a daughter Heather Knutson, known to her dad as “Mouse” and husband Dan of WI, 2 sisters Rev. Nancy Ferguson of VA and Cynthia Rush and husband Eddie of WV, 14 grandchildren 2 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and many, many friends.
