Baileyville – John Andrew Gagner, 43, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, June 22, 2022 as a result of an automobile accident. John was born in Calais on July 10, 1978, son of Jeffrey Gagner and Mary (Williamson) Gagner.
After graduating from Woodland High School, John worked various construction jobs. In 2010 he attended Washington County Community College, earning a certificate in Welding Technology. Eventually John started a career as a millwright with Woodland Pulp LLC in 2018 where he was a member of Union 1121. John’s world revolved around his family and he worked hard to provide for them. He made friends wherever he went and was loved by many.
In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by a nephew, Addison Coty. Surviving are his companion of over 20 years, Sarah Gardner; two children, Antonia Gagner and John O. Gagner, both of Baileyville; a brother Jake Gagner of Baileyville; two step-siblings, Garth and Kim; two nephews, Gunner and Matthew Cilley of Talmadge; three nieces, Paige and Morgan Gagner of Baileyville, and Genevieve Gardner of Princeton; mother-in-law Catherine Gardner and husband David of Princeton; sister-in-law Alison Gardner and husband Travis Cilley of Talmadge; brother-in-law David Gardner of Princeton; special aunt and uncle Cathy and David Holmes of Baileyville; many cousins and close friends; and his canine companion Quinn.
A celebration of John’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
