Obituary for John William Gaug Sr.

Perry – John William Gaug Sr., 62, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Waterbury, CT on April 8, 1946, son of Albert and Dorothy (Avelone) Gaug. After graduating from high school in Cheshire, CT, John started his electrical career. He eventually became a Master Electrician and started his own company in Waterbury, CT called All Phase Inc. John relocated to Perry in 1994, working for Gates Fiber Extrusions in Eastport, Georgia Pacific in Baileyville, and Vicus Technologies in Eastport before semi-retiring in 2007. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving with the US Army. John enjoyed boating, fishing, ice fishing, hunting, NASCAR, being the local “handyman”, and motorcycle camping trips. John took great pride in building his own home with his wife, Jo-Ann. He was predeceased by his father, Albert Gaug, and a brother, Jamie Gaug. Surviving are his loving wife, Jo-Ann (Perock) Gaug of Perry; his mother, Dorothy Gaug of Plantsville, CT; three sons, John Gaug Jr. and his wife Amy of Portland, Jason Gaug and his wife Elizabeth of Perry, and Joshua Gaug and his wife Amanda of Union, CT; a step-son, Kristopher Fleischer of Cape Cod, MA; a brother, Al Gaug and his wife Sharon of Plantsville, CT; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Jeremy, Joshua, Zaida, Lif, William, Nathan and Annabell; his nephew, Edward Gaug of Plantsville, CT; his special canine companion, Buddy; and numerous friends. Friends may call 2 – 4 p.m. Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, where a Celebration of John’s Life will begin at 4 p.m.
