Meddybemps, Me. & St. Augustine, Fla. John Robert Holloway (Jack), 61,died Monday, July 9, 2007 at Calais Regional Hospital following a briefillness with his daughters and sister by his side. Jack was born inBethlehem, PA, in 1946, son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Frederick)Holloway. He graduated from Lehigh University with a B.S. in Biology,and then a PhD in Biology. Jack taught sciences at various public andprivate schools in Pennsylvania. Since birth, Jack spent summers on theisland that has been in the family for 81 years on Meddybemps Lake. Jack'slove for the lake and woodworking led him to build a tugboat, which henamed after his grandmother, Ella B. He was an avid woodworker and targetshooter and enjoyed spending time with his family. Jack was predeceasedby his beloved wife, Jane (Beers) Holloway, who was the love of his life.Surviving are his two loving daughters, Kate Holloway and her partnerChristina Keller of Wilmington, DE, and Beth Conger and her husband Traceof Lebanon, OH; a step-daughter, Susan Jansen and her husband Joe of St.Augustine, FL; a step-son, Frank Epinger and his wife Andrea of LosAngeles, CA; a sister Carol Tomasch and her husband Roland of Catasaqua,PA; a nephew, Michael Tomasch of Philadelphia, PA; and four step-grandchildren, Dylan and Chasen Epinger and Faith and Gianna Jansen. PerJack's request, he will be buried in Allentown, Pennsylvania beside hiswife, Jane. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
