Obituary for John Francis LaFlamme

East Machias – John Francis LaFlamme, 83, passed away Saturday, April 16, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Down East Community Hospital in Machias. John was born in Boston, MA on July 18, 1932, and graduated high school in Laconia, NH.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country as an MP, stationed in Korea. After his service he returned to New Hampshire where he started his career as a truck driver, initially for Canada Dry and later for Rumford Press. John retired from truck driving in the early 1990’s and on October 2, 1999, married Lorraine Belloir in Belmont, NH. In 2001, they moved to East Machias where John drove for Pine State delivery service, retiring in 2005.

John was a lifetime member of Post #49 American Legion in NH where he was past Commander. He enjoyed playing the spoons and listening to country music.

In addition to his parents, John was predeceased by three children, Patricia, Michael and John; and a grandson Ashton. Surviving are his loving wife Lorraine LaFlamme of East Machias; eight children, Robert LaFlamme and wife Karen of Franklin, NH, Rebecca LaPlante and husband Larry of Franklin, NH, Richard LaFlamme and wife Susan of Bristol, NH, William LaFlamme and wife Wendy of Franklin, NH, Kevin LaFlamme and fiancé Romona of Sisson, WV, April Gauthier and husband August of Northfield, NH, Leroy LaFlamme and wife Amanda of Alexandria, NH, and Samantha LaFlamme of Meredith, NH; two step-children, Heather Alley and husband Asa of Jonesport, and James Webster of CT; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his feline companion Sassy.

In keeping with John’s wishes, there will be no services. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
