John W. Moores Jr.

John W. Moores Jr., a lifelong commercial fisherman out of Gloucester, MA, passed away on August 12, 2024 at the age of 43. He was born on April 18, 1981, in Machias, ME and grew up in nearby Lubec, ME. John was known for his unwavering dedication to the sea, his family, and his community of friends and fellow fishermen.

Described as a kind soul with a generous spirit, John touched the lives of all those around him with his compassion and warmth. His love for his family was cornerstone of his character, and he took great pride in his role a father to his sons Robert W. Moores and John W. Moores, III. He shared a love story for the ages with his late wife, Tamara J Moores, whose memory he cherished dearly. John's unwavering love and devotion to Tammy remained an anchor of his being, and he carried her presence in his heart every day since her passing. John's commitment to his family extended beyond blood ties, as he formed countless close bonds with relatives and friends who became an integral part of his life's tapestry.

In addition to his late wife, John was preceded in death by his father, John W Moores, Sr., his mother Debbie Preble, and his grandparents Roy & Mary Moores. While his departure leaves a void in the hearts of his loved ones, his memory will forever be cherished.

John W. Moores Jr. is survived by his sons, Robert W Moores and John W Moores III. He is also remembered by his sisters, Mandie Devore, Erica Moores, Kim Preble, and a host of other close family members and friends, including the Lyons family (Dexter, Paula, Sheldon, Ben, Tyra & Crystal), Jay Dinsmore, and Carl Sizemore. 

With his physical strength and toughness matched only by his gentle soul, John touched the lives of many. He will be fondly remembered not only for his dedication to his work and his family but also for the warmth and kindness he extended to all who crossed his path. The legacy he leaves behind serves as a testament to the impact of a life well-lived. John will be deeply missed and forever remembered. May he rest in peace, reunited once more with his soulmate Tammy.
