Eastport – John F. Mullen Jr., 71, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at a Calais hospital. John was born in Calais, December 2, 1935, son of the late John F. Mullen Sr. and Josephine Lawrence. He graduated from Shead High School, Class of 1954 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Ruby McGraw on July 4, 1984 in Eastport. John was employed as a Maintenance Supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in Portland for over 20 years. Upon retirement, John moved back to Eastport. He was a Communicant of St. Joseph R.C. Church and a member of the Marine Corps League; Fred Mitchell Post #11 American Legion, Calais Rod & Gun Club, and active with the July 4th Committee in Eastport. John enjoyed spending time with his family, helping others, the 4th of July, and was an avid Red Sox fan. He was predeceased by his wife, Ruby; a great nephew, Bradley Miller and a brother-in-law, Avery Miller. Surviving are two sisters, Estella Miller of Hampton, VA, and Mary Doherty of Saco; three brothers, Lawrence Mullen and wife Dina of Sanford, James Mullen and wife Thelma of Lakeland, FL and Eastport, and Edward Mullen and wife Gloria of Eastport; half brother, John Mitchell and wife Annette of Holly Hill, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Mullen of Eastport; two step-sons, Michael and Gregory Bouchard; life-long friend, Donnie Sutherland of Eastport; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
