Princeton – John Alden Papke, 47, passed away at his home on October 10, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Norway, Maine on August 14, 1967 to Robert and Ann (Fuller) Papke. He was a graduate of Calais High School and served his country in the United States Army. John spent his younger years working at the OSB and paper mills in Baileyville and long haul truck driving. He then found his calling with the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, where he was determined, meticulous and proud to have been a part of. John was a fitness buff who loved hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Bob and David Papke; sister, Robin Tardiff and his infant son, Jacob Arnold Papke. John will be sadly missed by his sisters Tamey Holmes and her husband, Kerry of Alexander, Sally Webb of San Antonio, TX, Debbie Bryant and her husband, Rodney of Gorham and Chantell Barker of Savanah, GA; the most special person in his life, his daughter, Alexandra Papke and many friends including Dennis and Jean Neddeau, Gary Wright and Bobby Hood. John’s family would like to thank and acknowledge the care and compassion shown to him by his fellow Customs & Border Patrol officers during the past 11 months, we are forever indebted. A memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 18th at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. Burial will follow at Princeton Cemetery.
