Obituary for John Lester Spinney

Perry – John L. Spinney, 79, passed to the hands of the Lord on November 2, 2012. He died in his home in Perry; the home in which he was born. John is survived by Ann, his loving wife of 55 years; his daughter Karen Theriault; and a cherished granddaughter Shelley. He is also survived by his brother Jim and his wife Shirley; sister-in-law Evelyn Spinney; nephews Ronny and his wife Elaine Spinney, Roger and his wife Annie Spinney, and Robert and his wife Trisha Spinney; and nieces Rhonda Spinney and Debbie Herlighy. He will be especially remembered by his cousins, Dale and Elsie Lincoln, and special friends Dick and Cindy Adams, Ralph and Deen Hicks, Richard and Harriett Real, Carl and Heather Ross, and his #1 son-in-law Brian Theriault. He was precedeased by his parents, Roy and Elizabeth Spinney; brothers Roy Spinney, Edward and wife Annette Loud, Buster and wife Evelyn Loud; and his sister Frances (Loud) and her husband George Caler. John gave to his country, serving four years in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He gave to his community, serving Perry as a volunteer fireman and Fire Chief, selectman, school board member, and whatever other job that needed to be done. He served his church, the Cornerstone Baptist Church (formerly the Washington Street Baptist Church) as a parishioner and deacon. Most of all he served his family, working 38 years at the GP Mill in Baileyville to provide, farming the land, and being a loyal and faithful husband, dad, grandfather and brother. He was also a die-hard Red Sox fan. Visiting hours will be held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 6, 2012 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Eastport. A celebration of John’s life will begin at 1 p.m. following the visitation. Burial will be held in the spring at Restlawn Cemetery in Perry.
