Obituary for John Clark Ward

Pembroke - John C Ward Sr., 90 passed away February 23rd 2008 at a Bangor Healthcare facility surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 2, 1917 in Pembroke, Maine to Arthur and Mary (Clark) Ward. After graduating from Pembroke High School, John served in the CCC's. He served his country in World War II in the US, and in the European Theater under George S Patten. He was honorably discharged in November of 1945. John was employed as a truck driver for Mobil Oil for over 33 years. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion, he was past noble grand in the Odd Fellows, he held many offices in the Grange, was a member of the VFW and the Pembroke Historical Society. John enjoyed time with his family, gardening, and his daily crossword puzzles. He is survived by his loving wife Alice of 66 years. Also surviving are his four children: His son John C Ward Jr. and his wife Linda of Pembroke, his daughters Mary Alice Jago of Arizona, Frances Davis of Bangor, and Paula Wilson of Bangor, eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, two cousins Bernice Pierce and Elmore Clark, and a sister in law Ida McEacharn. Friends may call starting at 12 Noon on Tuesday at the Pembroke First Baptist Church Liberty Hill Rd. in Pembroke, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Gary Kinney officiating. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
