Obituary for Joseph Cecil Hinton

Calais – Joseph Cecil Hinton, 97, went home to be with his Lord & Savior Monday, March 8, 2010 at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Joe was born in Robbinston on March 31, 1912, son of the late Herbert and Una (Leeman) Hinton. Joe was a veteran of WWII, serving with the U.S. Army 325th Glider Infantry Regiment. Throughout his life, he worked as an auto mechanic, mostly for Border Motors in Calais. Joe was faithful member of the First Congregational Church of Calais and the Boyd Smith Post #9779 V.F.W. He enjoyed square dancing, fishing, cutting wood and watching the deer. In addition to his parents, Joe was predeceased by his loving wife Winifred (Dowling) Hinton. Surviving are his brother, Ben Hinton and his wife Betty of St. Stephen, N.B.; a sister, Hilda Brown of Waterville; nieces and nephews, Pastor Bob Hinton of Calais, Joan Tubbs and her husband Jim of Walwig, N.B., Jane Ames of St. Stephen, N.B., John Brown and his wife Frances of Waterville, Richard Brown and his wife Kathy of Waterville and Samantha Marra of Mass.
