On July 25, 2024, we bid farewell to Joseph Emile Daniel Robert Massy, a.k.a. “Dan”, 55, whose kindness and warmth touched the hearts of all who knew him.
Dan’s journey began in Connecticut, where he spent his formative years before embarking on a path that would shape his life in meaningful ways. From his work as a painter to his days spent running pallets, Dan approached each task with dedication and a strong work ethic.
In 1999, driven by a deep love for his family and a desire for a better life, Dan made the courageous decision to move to Maine where he worked in road construction.
Beyond the realm of work, Dan found joy in simple pleasures that filled his days with happiness. Whether teeing off on the golf course or engaging in lively matches online, his love for the game was unwavering. Watching wrestling matches brought excitement to his days, while singing and dancing allowed him to express his vibrant spirit.
Yet above all else, Dan cherished moments spent with his family. His love for his children and grandchildren knew no bounds, and he took great delight in their company. Those fortunate enough to know Dan will remember him as a beacon of kindness, always ready with a smile and a thoughtful gesture to make others feel truly special.
As we come together to honor Dan's memory, let us carry forward the light of his spirit – a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering generosity that will continue to inspire us for years to come. May he rest in peace knowing that he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
Dan was predeceased by his significant other, Catherine Vinckus. Surviving are his mother, Cledia Inlow of Middleton, CT; his two daughters, Savanna Bailey and husband Bruce of Baileyville, and Cinthya Nichols and husband Brian of Baileyville; the mother of his children and dear friend, Nichole Nemecek of Dennysville; his grandchildren who he loved dearly, Faith Featherson, Bruce Bailey Jr, and Annabelle Nichols; siblings, Peggy Moyles, Raymond Inlow, and Roxanne Massey; nieces and nephews, Robert “Bud” Dickenson Jr., Sara Moyles, Joseph Inlow, and Christopher Inlow; and many extended family and friends.
