Obituary for Judith Ann Clark

Calais – Judith Ann Clark, age 74, passed away February 27, 2019. Judy was born December 23, 1944 in Calais, Maine. On November 26, 1969, she married her love, Stanley Clark.

Judy dedicated her entire life to taking care of others as both a family member and nurse. After graduating from Woodland High School in 1963, Judy attended Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Portland where she earned her Registered Nurse diploma. She worked as a nurse in the Presque Isle Hospital, Calais Regional Hospital, and the Indian Township Health Center. While working as an RN, Judy continued her education at University of Maine Farmington where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Health Education. Later she became the medical coordinator for the Georgia Pacific paper mill in Woodland. After leaving Georgia Pacific in 1998, Judy and Stan started their own business in Calais. They owned and operated New Horizons assisted living for nearly 20 years until she retired in 2017. The business flourished, because Judy genuinely cared for every resident like they were a member of her own family. Judy was a member of the People’s United Methodist Church in Baileyville, and she enjoyed hunting and fishing. Judy lived a full life as a wonderful mother, wife, and caregiver. She loved her family, and she will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

Judy was predeceased by her parents William and Pauline (Hunnewell) Travis; daughter Paula; sister Jane Woodside and her husband Ivan; and her canine companions Buster and Pepper. Judy is survived by Stan, her beloved husband and best friend of nearly 50 years; son Joe Clark and wife Jennifer; two grandchildren, Jason and Jocelyn Clark; sister Joan Burgess and husband Roy; sister Jo Gallant and husband John; brother William “Monty” Travis; sister-in-law Linda McPhee; and many nieces, nephews, and very dear friends who provided her love and support over the years.

A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 2nd, at the People’s United Methodist Church, corner of Third Ave. and Summit St., Baileyville. The memorial service at the church will be followed by her interment at the Calais Cemetery. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
