Karen L. Jipson

Karen Leslie Jipson, 77, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at her home in Topsfield.  Karen was born in St. Stephen, NB, on June 2, 1945, daughter of Elmont and Ethel (Hilchey) Grass Sr.

Karen graduated from Vanceboro High School, Class of 1964.  She worked at Ware Knitters in Calais until she married Dana Jipson on July 13, 1974.  Karen then worked as a clerk for Daggett’s store in Topsfield, as well as the Topsfield Post Office.  She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Topsfield.  Karen loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, mowing her lawn, and gardening.  In her younger years she enjoyed knitting and reading.

In addition to her parents Elmont and Ethel, Karen was predeceased by a son-in-law John Burke II; and two brothers, Horace Grass and Alvin Grass Sr.  Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Dana Jipson; two children, Neil Grass of Topsfield, and Tracy Burke of Princeton; daughter-in-law Debby Grass of Houlton; 10 grandchildren, Kirk Grass and companion Paula of Lewiston, Kelsey Grass of Enfield, Kasey Grass and companion Andrew James of Big Lake Twp, Kale Grass of Topsfield, John Burke III and wife Kori of Princeton, Whitney Burke of Princeton, Jordan Burke and fiancé Andrew St. Marie of Baileyville, and Duane, Peyton, and Ashlyn Burke, all of Princeton; four great-grandchildren, Axle and Karter Burke, McKenna Grass, and Lilah James; two brothers, Teddy Grass and wife Ernestine of Vanceboro, and Bruce Grass and wife Patti of Dubuque, Iowa; two sisters-in-law, Susan Jipson of Lincoln, and Janet Austin of Springfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
