Obituary for Kathryn Mina Dow

Baileyville – Kathryn Mina Dow, 90, passed away Monday, April 09, 2012 at Woodlawn Nursing Home in Skowhegan. Kathryn was born in Milltown, N.B. on March 21, 1922, daughter of the late Victor and Vera (Kerr) Campbell. She graduated from Milltown High School, and also from Miss Crabb’s Business School in St. Stephen. On October 19, 1948, she married Donald S. Dow. After her two sons became older, Kathryn started her career as a bookkeeper/secretary for Dr. Sears in Baileyville. She was an active member of People’s United Methodist Church in Baileyville; Susan’s International Dancing Grandmas, and W.T. Wren United #23 American Legion Auxiliary. Kathryn enjoyed reading, socializing, and spending time at her camp on West Grand Lake. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Donald; two brothers, Burton and Victor Campbell; and a niece Cheryl Ann Henley. Surviving are her two sons, Glenn Dow and his wife Sharon of Madison, and Gregg Dow and his wife Sheila of Baileyville; four grandchildren, Beckie Dow of Florida, Brandie Howland and her husband Thomas of Lincolnville, Tiffany Dow of Danforth, and Travis Dow of Baileyville; two great-grandchildren, Darshan Osnoe and Abby Howland; and two nephews, Phillip Campbell of Indiana, and Roland Campbell of Florida. The family of Kathryn wishes to thank the nurses, cna’s and staff at Woodlawn Nursing Home, especially Jeannice Ireland, RN, and Betty Cole, RN, for their loving care and making mom comfortable during her stay. Visiting hours will be held 12 Noon – 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, 2012 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of Kathryn’s life will begin at 2 p.m. following the visiting hours in the funeral home with Pastor Harbour Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Baileyville.
