In Loving Memory of Kathy Hunnewell (McCook), a Beloved Nurse, Devoted Mother, and a Beacon of Kindness

It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the loss and celebrate the life of Kathy, a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many through her compassionate nature, dedication to nursing, and unwavering love for her children. She passed away at the age of 52, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and a void that can never be filled.

Born on April 28th, 1971, in Bronx New York, Kathy was raised with an innate sense of empathy and a desire to make a difference in the lives of others. These qualities led her to pursue a career in nursing, where she flourished and became a beloved figure within the healthcare community. For over a decade, she selflessly cared for countless patients, providing not only physical healing but also emotional support during their most vulnerable moments at Downeast Community Hospital and Saint Joseph Hospital. She was always described as a phenomenal nurse; her nurturing and caring spirit would comfort those in need during difficult and trying times. She always advocated for her patients' needs and for their care.

However, it was in her role as a mother that Kathy's true essence shone brightest. Her children were her world, and she poured every ounce of love, care, and devotion into their upbringing. Her unconditional love knew no bounds, and she tirelessly supported and encouraged them in every aspect of their lives. Whether attending school events, cheering from the sidelines at their sports games, or offering a listening ear during challenging times, Kathy was an unwavering source of strength and guidance.

Beyond her professional and maternal roles, Kathy was known for her generous spirit and loving nature. Her kindness extended far beyond her immediate family, as she actively sought out opportunities to help those in need. Whether it was lending a helping hand to a friend, volunteering at local charities, or simply offering a warm smile to brighten someone's day, she had an uncanny ability to make people feel valued and loved.

Kathy enjoyed time with her family and friends. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling to so many places on adventures. She loved being in the pool, water, lake and beaches. She loved her Grand Puggy Mufasa, who brought her so much joy and happiness.

Kathy's departure from this world leaves a void that cannot be filled, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, compassion, and unwavering love will continue to inspire and guide us through the darkest of days.

She is predeceased by her father James B McCook, her mother Daria C Bologa (McArdle). She is survived by her beloved children, Jessica McCook and  fiancé Chad Woodruff, Joshua Hunnewell, and Gabriel Hunnewell and his girlfriend Sammy Seder, her brothers James McCook and wife May, Jerry McCook and  wife Becky, her sisters Karen McCook, and Kelly Cruz and  husband Orlando, her best friend Krystal Moores and  husband Nathan Moores, and Peter  Hunnewell and  fiancé Paula Robinson, many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles, who will carry her spirit with them always, cherishing the memories they shared and honoring her legacy by embodying the values she instilled in them.

A memorial service will be held on July 8, 2023, at 2 pm at Indian Township Recreation Hall, 51 US Route 1, Indian Township ME where family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched are invited to gather in remembrance of Kathy's extraordinary life.

As we say goodbye to our dear Kathy, let us remember her as the epitome of kindness, a nurturing soul, and a guiding light who brightened the lives of everyone she encountered. May she find eternal peace, knowing that her love and care will forever be cherished.

Rest in peace, dear Kathy. You will be deeply missed and forever loved.
