***Please note: Service time is 1:00 US Time (2:00 Canadian Time)*** Calais, – Katrine Mitchell-Budd, 88, died Monday, June 26, 2006 at a Calais nursing home. Katrine was born in Kingsclear, N.B., July 27, 1917, daughter of the late William and Nerene (Kilburn) Young, and her late step-father, John McLean. She was a graduate of Mt. Allison University in Sackville, N.B. in 1939. Katrine was a member of the First Congregational Church in Calais, and a former member of the Calais Regional Hospital Auxiliary and the St. Croix Country Club. She enjoyed playing bridge, knitting, reading, traveling, and attending jazz concerts. Katrine was predeceased by her first husband, Dr. Hazen C. Mitchell in 1983, and a brother, John K. Young in 1984. Surviving are her husband, Dr. John Budd; three children, Geoffrey K. Mitchell and wife Mary of Exeter, NH, John A. Mitchell and wife Lorraine of Calais, and Deborah Murphy and husband Bradley of Falmouth; a sister, Carolyn Watson and husband Grant of Fredericton, N.B.; and her sister-in-law, Charlotte Young of Brockway, N.B.; five grandchildren, Paul Mitchell and wife Lori of Steamboat Springs, CO, Andrea Mitchell of New York City, NY, Carolyn Cundiff and husband Brian of Calais, David Mitchell and wife Tammy of Calais, and Geoffrey Mitchell of Calais; eight great-grandchildren, Andrew and Alicia Mitchell of Steamboat Springs, CO, Rachel, Kaitlyn, and Samuel Cundiff of Calais, and Gregory, Emily and Megan Mitchell of Calais; several nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Betty Francis of St. Stephen, N.B., and Gloria Waycott of Calais. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. (2 p.m. Canadian Time) Friday, June 30 at Brockway Union Church in Brockway, N.B. Canada with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Brockway Cemetery.
