Baileyville – Kenneth Leroy Hanson, 75, passed away on Sunday, May 03, 2009 at his home with his family by his side. Kenny was born in Baileyville on June 9, 1933, son of the late Melvin and Evelyn (Dean) Hanson. He attended St. Croix High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the US Army 1745 Co. KI 19th Infantry Regiment. In 1959, he married his high school sweet heart, Millie (Elliott) Hanson and they just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Kenny lived his whole life in Baileyville, was a proud member of the American Legion, and worked at St. Croix / Georgia Pacific Paper Mills for 45 years. He enjoyed hunting, flying with his son Keith in their plane, and restoring his antique 1948 Jeepster. His greatest joy was spoiling his grand-daughter Ashley, who was the apple of his eye. Surviving are his loving wife Millie Hanson; son Keith Hanson of Baileyville; daughter DeAnna (Hanson) Gott and her husband Joseph of Winterport; his granddaughter, Ashley Gott of Winterport; brothers Edward and wife Marilyn and Alvin and wife Patricia, sister Gladys McCray; sister-in-law, Connie Croman; all of Baileyville; and many cousins. Kenny will be missed by his family and his beloved cat Jake. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Homes, Calais & Eastport.
