Alexander & Princeton - Kilby Kneeland, 78, passed away at his home in Alexander, on Wednesday, February 17, 2010. He was born March 7, 1931 in Princeton, ME to Harry and Hazel (Day) Kneeland. Kilby was a kind & good natured man who was loved by many. He had a great love for children, especially his grandchildren and to many of them he passed on his sense of humor & wit. He had a fondness for dogs, with his favorites being Colonel and Raven. He served his country during the Korean War, spending time in Japan. He had many jobs during his life, the most recent as a truck driver for his cousin and good friend, LC (Pat) Day. In prior years he worked for Dead River, & owned & operated laundromats in Baileyville and Lubec and the Moosehorn Lounge & Motel in Baring. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Betty (Doten) Kneeland; his favorite sister, Earlise (Gould) Kneeland and a sister, Ameila Moore. He leaves behind, his loving wife, Emma (Hatfield) Kneeland of Alexander, his devoted daughter, Debbie (Kneeland) Polzun and her friend Herb Gross of Manchester, CT. and a daughter, Lori MacArthur and her husband Barry of CT, two brothers, Leon Kneeland & his wife Rosalie of East Hampton, CT., and Dean Kneeland and his wife, Sue of Princeton, two stepchildren who loved him dearly and considered him their Dad: Kim Pottle & her friend John Cameron of Calais & Mike Turner of Alexander, grandchildren: Billy Polzun & Shauna Gowin and her husband Fred of Ct., Scott, Jesse & Kayla Pottle of Calais, and Keith Turner of Alexander. Great grandchildren: Nathan & Hailey Polzun & Bailey & MacKenzie Gowin all of Ct.; many nieces and nephews and their children. He will be remembered by many as the man with the beard and dry sense of humor.
