Brisk Wind Farm – Charlotte – Laurence Ambrose Damon Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday afternoon, February 8, 2009 on his beloved farm with his family at his side. Laurence was born on the farm on January 28, 1933 to Roy E. Damon and Edwina Cambridge Damon. Before graduating from Dennysville High School in 1951 Laurence began egg farming. He married Merna Carol Lyons on June 1, 1957. Together they worked very hard and earned their living farming. Laurence was also a well-known vegetable and berry farmer. He sold tons of vegetables, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and apples. Laurence took great pride in his farm work and was a hard-working man. For years Laurence was a member of the Charlotte Baptist Church, a charter member of the Charlotte Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Blueberry Cooperative Extension. Laurence enjoyed eating, wood-working, oil painting, jewelry-making, building field stone creations, listening to country music, riding his many tractors and tinkering around, but he truly treasured the time he spent with his grandchildren. Laurence is survived by his wife and best friend of 51 years Merna L. Damon, his daughter, Wanda Damon Barlow and son-in-law Jeffrey of Baileyville, his son Laurence A. “Larry” Damon Jr. and his companion Laurie of Charlotte, his grandchildren Katelyn Nichole Damon of Little Cranberry Island, Justine Louise Barlow of Bangor, Wyatt Laurence Damon of Lamoine and Wesley Damon Barlow of Baileyville. Laurence is also survived by his sister Grace D. Hatton of Charlotte, his brother Keith Damon and Joyce of Edmunds, sister Ruth D. Nuttall of Charlotte, Sister Rowena D. Cousins and Charles of Princeton, sister Maybelle D. Pratt and Bucky of Kissimmee, FL, sister-in-law Ruth P. Damon of Princeton, and brother-in-law John Cox of Edmunds and many nieces and nephews. Laurence was predeceased by his parents and his sister Betty D. Faucher, his brothers, Edmund Damon and Billy Damon and sister Joyce D. Cox. Laurence’s mild-mannered personality and love to his family is going to be missed immensely.
