Baileyville – Lawrence “Toddy” Dean, 81, passed away at the Calais Regional Hospital on Monday, January 05, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer. Toddy was born in Baileyville on February 13, 1927, son of the late Edward and Charlotte Dean. He was employed by St. Croix Paper Company and then the Georgia Pacific Corporation for 46 years, until his retirement in 1994. Toddy was a Veteran of WWII, serving his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Quarter Century Banquet and attended People’s United Methodist Church in Baileyville. Toddy enjoyed spending time with his family at the family camp on Pleasant Lake. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Teri Davis; and a grandson, Jamie Dean. Toddy is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Catherine “Charlotte”; two sons, David Dean and Kevin Dean and his wife Jackie; a sister, Madeline Perkins and her husband Leo; a son-in-law, Carleton Davis; grandchildren, Tricia and her husband Kevin, Wendy, Davie, Jeremy, Scotty, and Todd who was the joy of his grandfather’s life; and six great-grandchildren, Shelby, Nathan, Ryan, Lexi, Braden and Jayme. At Toddy’s request, there will be no services. Those who wish may make donations in Toddy’s memory to People’s United Methodist Church, 86 Summit St., Baileyville, ME 04694.
