Calais – Lendall McKay Lyons, 69, passed away unexpectedly Friday, August 10, 2012 in Calais. Lenny was born in Caribou on February 19, 1943, son of the late Linwood and Elva (Haines) Lyons. After graduating from Presque Isle High School, he went to General Motors Training Center in Boston where he studied transmission and bodywork. Lenny worked as a mechanic in Boston for a short time until he was drafted into the U.S. Army. Following his graduation from the Army basic training at Ft. Dix, NJ, he returned home to marry the love of his life, Marilyn Sue Mowatt, on December 28, 1964 in Perth Andover, Canada. Lenny then went for advance training before being sent to Vietnam where he served for 13 months. Following his military commitment, he returned to Calais and worked at Calais Car Wash, drove logging truck for two years, and then as a mechanic with the City of Calais until he was hired at Georgia Pacific. Lenny worked for Georgia Pacific as a heavy equipment operator for 22 years, as well as working as an EMT for Newell’s Ambulance Service. After retiring from GP, he worked as a mechanic for McGovern’s Ambulance Service and most recently drove truck for DiCenzo’s until he finally retired in 2010. Lenny was known as “Papa” to many children in the area that his wife Sue baby sat. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years, Sue Lyons in 2011. Surviving are his children, Jacqueline Page and her husband Jeff of Lincoln, Crystal Anastos and her husband Dwaine of Millinocket, Pamela Page and her husband Leigh of Lincoln, Lynette Leighton and her husband John of Lincoln, and Jon Dow and his companion Savannah Lonseth of Princeton; twelve grandchildren, Justin Page and his wife Gina of Lincoln, Devon Page and his wife Katie Smith of Lincoln, Trevor Page of Lincoln, Joseph Lyons of East Millinocket, Senior Airman Anthony McConnell U.S.A.F. stationed at Robins Air Force Base in Warner Robins, GA, Cameron McConnell of Kathleen, Georgia, Jocelyn Raffiani of Lincoln, Madison Page of Lincoln, and Christina and Kelsi Leighton of Lincoln, Alannah Dow and Are Lonseth-Dow of Princeton; three great-grandchildren, Connor, Rian and Leland Page; one sister Beverly Greenier and husband Peter of Presque Isle; three brothers, Claude “Skip” Lyons and his wife Carol of Blaine, Kenneth Lyons and his wife Brenda of Dexter, and Galen Lyons of Presque Isle; sisters-in-law Lee Lyons of Westfield, and Joan Corning of Calais and her son Ronald Corning and his partner Anthony Wilkinson of Dallas, TX; brothers-in-law Carl Mowatt of Tampa, FL and Arnold Corning of Meddybemps; many nieces and nephews, and numerous dear friends. Visiting hours will be 12-2 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2012 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of Lenny’s life will begin at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Calais Cemetery.
