Lester E. Purdy

Indian Township – Lester E. Purdy, 69, passed away at his home on Thursday, December 25, 2008. Lester was born in Indian Township on March 13, 1939, son of the late Edward and Kathleen (Socoby) Purdy. He attended Bangor Community College and was an avid basketball fan. Lester was a friend of Bill W. for 25 years. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, George Purdy; and a niece, Georgia Purdy. Surviving are his sister, Hazel Brown of Lewiston; his nieces and nephews, Lee Brown of Mechanic Falls, Jessica, Ed, Rita, Mary Purdy and Tonia Ackley; great-nieces and great-nephews, Monica, Heather, Cheyanne, Angelita, Marissa, Timothy and Donovan; his sister-in-law, Judy Purdy who was a great help to him; and his canine companion, Chucky. Visiting hours will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, December 28, at the Meal Site, Indian Township, until 10 a.m. Tuesday. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday by Father Frank Morin at St. Ann Mission, Peter Dana Point. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
