Obituary for Lewis Raymond Stone

Calais – Lewis Raymond Stone, 74, passed away Monday, February 4, 2013 at his home in Calais following a battle with lung cancer. Lewis was born in St. Stephen, NB on July 27, 1938, son of the late Lewis A. and Rosena (Conley) Stone. He graduated from Calais Memorial High School in 1956 and served his country in the United States Air Force as an electronics technician. Louie worked for Down East TV as a repairman for 16 years until he started his career with Georgia Pacific. He worked for 26 years at the mill, retiring in 2004 from Domtar. After his retirement, Lewis worked for Novis Environmental Company in Meddybemps monitoring wells. He was a former member of the Calais Rod & Gun Club, Tomah Trail Riders, and the Quarter Century Club at the mill. Louie was an avid hunter and fisherman who looked forward to the fall each year so he could spend time with his family and friends in “God’s Country”, his camp in Tomah. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Dawn Moraisey of Alexander. Surviving are his wife of 45 years Mary (Hooper) Stone; his son Keith Tracy and wife Brenda of Winsted, CT and their children Patrick, Jonathan and Matthew; daughters Karen Thomas and husband Kenny of Calais and their children Alissa, Cassie, Airelle and Nicholas, Crystal McPhee and her companion Mark Harmon of Calais and her children Allison, Courtney, Kayla and Daniel, Carol Eagan and her companion Scott Walton of Calais, Kelly Newell of Baileyville and her children Ericka, Felicia, Tanika and Zachary, and Tina Perkins of Baileyville and her children Jordon and Devon; several great-grandchildren; special friend Mark Johnson of Hampden; and his canine companion Duke and feline companion Daisy. A celebration of Louie’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 8, 2013 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais.
