Linda Sue Leighton

Pembroke – Linda Sue Leighton, 67, passed away on December 10, 2021 in Bangor after a brief illness. Linda was born in Lubec on October 31, 1954, to Clyde and Dorothy (Gray) Wallace, where she spent her childhood and attended school. As the daughter of a Park Ranger, stationed first in Lubec and then Cobscook Bay State Park, Linda spent her childhood exploring nature and enjoyed being outside.

On September 26, 1973 Linda married Basil Leighton and together they made their home in Pembroke. Over the years she worked at local sardine factories, at both Guilford Mill and Creative Apparel and various other jobs. Linda and Basil enjoyed camping around Maine when their children were young and looked forward to spending time with her granddaughters and great granddaughter.

In addition to her parents, Linda was predeceased by her brother, James Wallace and sister, Debbie McCaslin.

Surviving are her husband of over 48 years, Basil Leighton Sr.; a son, Basil Leighton Jr. of Charlotte; daughter, Lisa Leighton and her companion Mike Lee of Pembroke; granddaughters, Hailey Lee of Pembroke and Skilah Leighton of Charlotte; great granddaughter, Kaiah Francis; sisters Cleo Ramsdell and her husband Gary of Eastport and Cindy Joyce and her husband Jeff of Perry as well as many friends.

In keeping with Linda’s wishes, there will be no service at this time. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
