Pembroke – Linda M. Winchester, 61, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at the Calais Regional Hospital. Linda was born in West Point, NY on November 10, 1948, daughter of the late Alger and Anita LaBarre. She graduated from Highland Falls High School in NY, Class of 1966. After graduating, Linda traveled the country and settled in the Northern Virginia area. She attended computer classes and started a career with the United State government. Linda worked for the Federal Communications Commission, the Pentagon, and the IRS, where she retired from in 2000. Surviving are her husband Lloyd “Pilly” Winchester of Pembroke; two daughters, Julie Mitchell and her husband Greg Norris, and Michelle McGowen and her husband Johnny; a step-daughter Jessica LoPresti and her husband Blake; three grandchildren, Ashley and Matthew Mitchell, Everett LoPresti, all of Virginia; her siblings, Nancy Mauer of Georgia, Diane Sayere of South Carolina, Joyce Alazio of New York, Robert LaBarre of Virginia, and Ronald LaBarre and his wife Elaine of New York; two dear friends who were like grandchildren to her, Monica and Miranda Moffitt; her cookout partners Butch and Hazel Kierstead; and her “extended family” at the Eastport Memorial Nursing Home, where she was not only cared for but loved for the last five years. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Clarkside Cemetery in Pembroke. Donations in Linda’s memory may be made to P.A.W.S. Humane Society, PO Box 182, Calais, ME 04619.
