Llewellyn Percy Dwelley Sr., 80, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. Lew was born in Calais on October 22, 1943, son of Everett and Viola (White) Dwelley.
Lew graduated from Calais Memorial High School, Class of 1962. He enlisted in the Army National Guard from which he retired. Lew worked in Connecticut for several years until returning to Maine. He worked for his uncle Charlie White repairing snowmobiles and chainsaws. Lew eventually owned and operated his own business, Lew’s Saw & Repairs. He later started driving truck for Guptill’s Logging and for Donnie Newman Trucking before he retired. Lew was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, snowmobiles, and ATVs. He was a member of Breakneck Mountain ATV Club and could often be found fixing anything.
In addition to his parents Everett and Viola Dwelley, Lew was predeceased by a son, Llewellyn Dwelley Jr.; and brothers-in-law, Dennis Snyder and Barry Burns. Surviving are his wife Bonnie (Burns) Dwelley; his son Wayne Dwelley and companion Tammy and her daughter Jordan of Alexander; sisters Lorna Maxwell and husband Jim of St. Stephen, NB, and Mavis Snyder of Alexander; many nieces and nephews; several cousins; and special life-long friend, Bill Bristol of Alexander. Lew will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
