Louise M. Labossiere

January 10, 1945 — October 24, 2024

Vanceboro

Louise May Labossiere, age 79, left this world peacefully on October 24, 2024, at her beloved home, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 10, 1945, in Waltham, Massachusetts, she was the cherished daughter of Stephen and Iris (Pratt) Shaw.

Louise’s life was marked by love, dedication, and community service. A proud graduate of Waltham High School, Class of 1964, she married her high school sweetheart, Roger Labossiere, on September 12 of the same year. Together, they built a beautiful life, welcoming two wonderful children, Joseph and Michelle, whom Louise adored deeply. Before starting her family, she touched many lives while working at Grover Cronin’s Department Store. Later, as a devoted educator, Louise inspired countless young minds as a substitute teacher, head-start employee, and ceramics instructor.

In search of a nurturing environment for their children, Louise and Roger moved to the quaint town of Vanceboro, Maine. Here, Louise’s commitment to education continued as she became a substitute teacher and also dedicated over three decades as the town clerk and treasurer for the town of Vanceboro. In addition, her culinary skills shone brighter than ever as she served as a cook for the Vanceboro schools until her retirement in 2012. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the Vanceboro Historical Society, and the Washington County Bookmobile.

A woman of many talents, Louise found joy in playing bingo and cribbage, as well as sewing, knitting, and shaping beautiful ceramics. Yet, nothing brought her more happiness than spending precious time with her family.

Louise's legacy of love and strength will forever remain in the hearts of those she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Roger, son Joseph Labossiere, great-grandchild Baby, three sisters, Lillian, Ruth, and Barbara, and brother Charles. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Michelle Grass and husband Gregory of Vanceboro; granddaughter Sarah McLaughlin and husband Michael of Vanceboro; great-granddaughter Natalie McLaughlin; step-grandchildren Matthew Grass and wife Jill of Lincoln and Josh Grass and wife Charlotte of Lambert Lake; step-great-grandchildren Maxwell, Dominic, and Hannah Grass; and a brother, Stephen Shaw Jr. of Waltham, MA. She is also lovingly remembered by special niece Susan Slowe of Vanceboro and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Louise’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Vanceboro Community Center, High Street, Vanceboro. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
