Pembroke – Lucille Smith DeVola, 85, died at her home in Pembroke Thursday, November 3, 2005. She was born in West Pembroke on December 25, 1919, daughter of the late Lyman and Velma (Cushing) Smith. Lucille attended Pembroke Schools and graduated from Pembroke High School and Bliss Business School in Lewiston. She worked for many years in New York and retired from Equitable Paper Bag Company as bookkeeper before returning to her home in Pembroke. Lucille was a member of the Iron Works Methodist Church in Pembroke. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Tom DeVola and her friend and companion, Frank Gannon. Lucille will be sadly missed by special friends, Cissie Gannon Murphy, Wanda Gannon Robinson, Marlene Gannon Walsh, and Thursa Sawyer. At her request, there will be no visiting hours. Graveside services will be held 12:00 p.m. in Forest Hill Cemetery, Pembroke, with Pastor Bob Hinton officiating. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the American Cancer Society, 1 Main St., Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais.
