Calais & Parrish, FL – Maida Grace Carter, 87, passed away on March 14, 2016 in Bradenton, FL. Maida was born in Princeton on September 8, 1928, daughter of the late Cedric and Charlotte (Greenlaw) Crossman. On Jun 1, 1952, she married Lawrence Carter Jr. in South Portland.
She was a member of Crawford Bible Fellowship and worked many years in the payroll department, first for Sears and later for Hannaford Bros. Maida enjoyed helping her husband on the farm, reading, baking, knitting and just keeping busy.
In addition to her parents, Maida was predeceased by her beloved husband Lawrence; a brother Loren Crossman; and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Samuel Owen.
Surviving are her two children, Lawrence D. Carter and Cynthia Berube and husband David, all of Parrish, FL; two brothers, Brenton Crossman of Gorham, and William Crossman and wife Lucinda of Levenworth, KS; a grandson Matthew Berube and his wife Rachel and a great grandson, Bodi Matthias.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m., at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais where a funeral will begin at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, March 20th. Burial will be at South Princeton Cemetery, Monday, March 21st at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
