Princeton – Mamie Ethel Farquharson, 77, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2020 at her home in Princeton. Mamie was born in Moncton, NB on March 21, 1943, daughter of Clifford and Violet (Wilson) Collier.
Mamie graduated from Chipman High School in New Brunswick and went on to work as a waitress in Sussex, where she met her future husband Alfred “Fred” Farquharson. After being united in marriage, they lived in New Brunswick and eventually settled in Princeton where she worked at the Princeton Food Mart for 34 years. Mamie was a member of the Red Hat Society, the Wednesday morning breakfast group, and enjoyed gardening and quilting.
In addition to her parents, Mamie was predeceased by her beloved husband Fred; a brother Ivan Collier; and a sister Joyce Collier. Surviving are her son Kevin Farquharson and wife Connie of Calais; a grandson, Derek Farquharson and wife Megan of Calais; great-granddaughter Danniella; sister Grace Jonah of Riverview, NB; brother Daniel Collier of Young’s Cove, NB; sister-in-law Marlene Duffy and husband Wallace of Fredericton, NB; many nieces and nephews; and close friends that she loved like family, Ricky and Tina Crowe and their children Marshall and Erin.
Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of Mamie’s life will be held in the funeral home 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 30. Burial will follow at the South Princeton Cemetery.
