Marie Margaret Annis

Charlotte – Marie Margaret Annis, 97, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017 at Marshall Healthcare in Machias. Marie was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on December 24, 1919, daughter of the late Roy and Margaret (Allen) Caler. She attended school in North Anson and upon her mother’s unexpected passing, the family moved to Charlotte. Marie worked in the local fish factories and married her love, Russell Annis. After their two children became teenagers, she worked for Ware Knitters in Calais until her retirement. Marie was a former member of the Grange and enjoyed sewing, embroidering and drawing.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved Russell; two grandsons, Jerry Annis Jr. and Lewis Annis; a great-granddaughter Kimberly Johnson; and her brother James Caler. Surviving are her two children, Jerry Annis and wife Eva of Charlotte, and Joyce Johnson of Pembroke; three grandchildren, Christopher Annis of Charlotte, Terry Johnson of Charlotte, and Gregory Johnson and wife Kimberly of Pembroke; three great-grandchildren, Terry Jr., Dakota and Spencer; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A graveside service will be held in the spring at Round Pond Cemetery in Charlotte. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
