Eastport – Marie Elizabeth Avery, 77, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021. Marie was born at the family home in Eastport on July 2, 1944, daughter of Charles and Emily (Ramsdell) Avery.
After graduating from Shead Memorial High School, Class of 1963, Marie started her career with Guilford Mill. She worked for Guilford as a Spinner for 35 years, rarely missing a day. When Guilford closed, Marie worked for a local salmon processor, and later at Marden’s in Calais until her retirement.
Marie had a hard life, but being a hard worker, she made the best of what she had and paved her own way in life. She had a heart of gold and enjoyed being around her family and friends, as well as any animal.
In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by two brothers, Pete Charles Avery and Walter Avery. Surviving are her two brothers, Ray Avery of Pembroke, and Larry Avery and wife Ruth of Eastport; sister-in-law Sandra Avery of Eastport; special cousins, Shirley Montier and Joan Morton; and several nieces, nephews and friends at the Boynton Manor.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2021 at Bayside Cemetery in Eastport. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marie’s memory may be made to Cans for Cancer, c/o Tammy Hoche, PO Box 241, Eastport, ME 04631. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
