She enjoyed traveling, especially to see her children and grandchildren, who were her world. She loved her family with all her soul; Christmas was her favorite time of the year, when she would host a family Christmas Eve Party. She loved to decorate and cook for her yearly party.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Edward; her brother, Francis Hatt; her husband’s parents, Melvin and Evelyn Hanson; her loving grandmother, Nellie Hatt; her special second mother, Blanche Doten; her wonderful son-in-law, Doug McKay; and special friends, Ruth Doten and Mert and Anna Brown.
Surviving are her three children, Tammy Bailey and husband Joe of Middleton, NH, Lisa McKay of Owasso, OK and Glen Hanson of Baileyville; three grandchildren, Joseph E. Bailey of Glendale, AZ, Hunter and Cameron Hanson, both of Baileyville; sister-in-law, Gladys McCray (Auntie) and special fur baby, Heidi, will also sadly miss her.
The family wishes to thank Marilyn’s friend, Lorena, all the other residents and staff at Wolfeboro Bay Center for treating her with love, respect, dignity and laughter and allowing her to continue living her life while navigating the difficulties of living with dementia. The family also wishes to thank Brian, Missy and Anthony of Mays Funeral Home in Calais for all their caring help with Marilyn’s arrangements.
As requested by Marilyn, graveside services will be announced for the spring, when all the wonders of life are in bloom. Arrangements by Mays Funeral Home, Calais & Eastport.
