Baileyville and Calais – Marilyn Marie Martell, 71, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, June 25, 2010. She passed away at Atlantic Rehab & Nursing Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Marilyn was born in Baileyville on December 22, 1938, daughter of the late Aime “Babe” and Lillian (Fullerton) Martell. She attended school in Baileyville and was also a graduate of Holy Rosary in St. Stephen, N.B. Marilyn was known for her beautiful singing voice and sang at many weddings and other events. She was a dog groomer for many years and will be remembered for her love of animals. Marilyn was a longtime member of the S.P.C.A. and The Humane Society. During her lifetime, Marilyn had many canine and feline companions who helped comfort her during her illnesses. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother Edmund Martell. Surviving are her daughter Jo-Anne “Jodi” Howland and her husband Kevin of Baileyville; two nephews Jim Martell of Baileyville and Daryl Martell and his wife Lori of Georgia; two nieces Barbara LaPrelle of Bangor and Donna Martell of Phippsburg; two great-nephews Ryan and Danny; two great-nieces Veronica and Whitney; and a special cousin Meg Pottle and her husband Shirl. Marilyn will be especially missed by Dottie and Alvin Daggett, Alice White, Lisa Smith, Beckey Moore, Laurie Jones, and her two feline companions, Sylvia and Paw-Paw.
