Marion Francis (Neptune)

July 27, 1929 — April 9, 2020

Pleasant Point – Marion Delores Francis, 90, passed away Thursday, April 9, 2020 the Eve of Good Friday at the Maine Veteran’s Home of Bangor to be with her Lord and Savior and join her heavenly family. She died peacefully in her sleep of natural causes. Marion was born at Pleasant Point on July 27, 1929, daughter of William L. and Christina J. (Sockabasin) Neptune.

2 Corinthians 5:8 “We are confident, I say, and are willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

On May 19, 1949, she married David A. Francis. Marion was a devout Communicant of St. Ann R. C. Church at Pleasant Point. Her involvement in the church included cleaning, visitations, prayer groups, ministry, and trips to St. Ann’s Church in Quebec. Marion believed in the power of prayer that was instilled into her 10 children and many grandchildren, friends, and community members of Sipayik. She was a gifted basket maker and used her talents to serve the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and especially her grandchildren.

Marion maintained a household of 10 children, working part-time as a homemaker for elders in the community. She served unconditionally to all who crossed her path. She will be deeply missed but her legacy lives on.

Proverbs 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

In addition to her parents, Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband David of 65+ years, son David P. Francis, daughter Mary Theresa Altvater; grandson Majik Francis, and three brothers, Noel, Benjamin, and William Neptune. Surviving are eight children Christina Georgantis and husband Robert of Pleasant Point, Martin Francis and wife Cyril of Pleasant Point, Michael Francis and wife Kathy of Calais, Paul Francis and wife Viola of Pleasant Point, Merlin Francis and wife Lori of Orono, Susan Leighton and husband Thomas of Brewer, Noel Francis of Pleasant Point, and Claire Ohmeis and husband James of Southwest Harbor; two sisters, Clara Polches of Fredericton, NB, and Pauline Humphrey of Perry; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
