Baileyville – Marjorie Alberta Drotar, 88 passed away May 31, 2022 while visiting Scotland. Marjorie was born in Milltown, NB on January 12, 1934, daughter of Roy and Sadie (Waycott) Hanson.
Marjorie graduated from Milltown High School, Class of 1951 and from Holy Rosary Commercial School in St. Stephen, Class of 1957. She worked as a private secretary for W. Ganong until marrying Anthony ‘Tony’ Drotar on August 9, 1958. Marjorie raised her two sons and worked for Dr. H.G. Sears in Baileyville until retiring in 1987. After retirement, Marjorie and Tony enjoyed wintering in Lake Wales, Florida.
Marjorie was a Communicant of St. James RC Church in Baileyville where she was active with the Ladies Sodality for over 30 years. She led the Rosary every Thursday at Washington Place for many years. Marjorie had a well developed sense of humor and loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and dining.
In addition to her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her beloved husband Tony. Surviving are her two sons James A. Drotar and wife Rachel of Uxbridge, MA and Mark E. Drotar and wife Teresa of Symington, Scotland; a brother, Ronald Hanson and wife Barbara of Kingston, Ontario; three grandchildren, Sonja, Natasha, and Megan; a great grandchild, Willa; and many cousins and very dear friends.
Marjorie’s Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St. Margaret’s Cathedral, Ayr in Scotland on June 16, 2022. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by Father Brad Morin at 11:00 am at St. James RC Church in Baileyville on June 22, 2022. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery.
