Calais – Marjorie Adelia (Brown) Mahar, 93, went to be with the Lord on June 7, 2011. Marjorie was born in Grand Lake Stream on March 25, 1918, daughter of the late Edward and Charlotte (Hold) Brown. She was the last survivor of a family of twelve. Marjorie worked at the Ware Knitters and Hathaway Shirt for many years. She and her husband enjoyed traveling around to many camping areas with her friends and family, as well as fish-frys with music provided by her brothers; lots of good times were had. She always attended the family reunions and in the last few years surprised us all by singing ole’ “Irish Jigs” songs and some of her favorite tunes of younger years. Marjorie was an avid reader, her favorite being the Bible that she read every day. Reading was a “must” and was her pleasure. Her many talents included sewing, canning, baking, and even making a wedding gown for her daughter. She was a loving mom, grandmother and friend. Marjorie was always a “sharp dresser”, everything she put together “matched” or it didn’t go on. We are proud of her and we will miss her much. Memories will take us back whenever we need to smile and remember. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband William Foley in 1965; second husband Carl Mahar in 1997; her son Lloyd Foley in 2007; granddaughters Wendy Hosford in 2006 and Kelli Rae Neddeau in 1961; four sisters, Ethel Wolfson, Alice Henderson, Louise Moreng and Faye Brown; and her seven brothers, Ralph, Lewis, Edward E., Frederick, Edward T., Richard and Walter. Surviving are her two daughters, Ethel Foley of Gardiner and Marilyn Neddeau and her husband Keith of Bucksport; six grandchildren, Scott Humphrey and his wife Shirley, Lisa Winfrey, Linda Foley, Kathy Neddeau, Todd Neddeau, and Becki Krueger and her husband Michael; nine great-grandchildren, Kristian Hosford and his wife Michelle, Alex Humphrey, Benjamin Humphrey, Erica Rawls, Darick Brian Winfrey, Trevor Kendall, Maxim Kendall, Benjamin Wilson and Ethan Krueger; two great-great grandchildren, Riley Joyner and Taylor Rawls; and her husband Carl’s three sons, Larry, Carl and David Mahar and their families. Visiting hours will be held 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 10, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A celebration of Marjorie’s life will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Baring Cemetery.
