It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Marlene R Lord. She passed away at her daughter's home in Port St. Lucie, FL on November 6, 2024, after a beautiful 92 years.
Born on August 30, 1932, Marlene was the 7th of 9 children of Gerald and Elva Seamans. She met her soulmate, Gordon Lord, while in high school. During 62 years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling, golfing, shuffleboard, bowling, skiing, and living by the water. She took pleasure in flower gardening, photography, baking, embroidery, gaming, genealogy, and sewing. She was well known for her beautiful quilts and made one for each person in her large family.
Marlene is survived by her children, Shirley Hold of Port St. Lucie, FL; Betty Burgess (Dan) of West Palm, FL; Catherine Henry of Madrid, NY; Deborah Niles (Bruce) of Holden, ME; and daughter-in-law Ruth Lord of Calais, ME. Also survived is chosen son Jim Davis, of Alexander; ME, sister Jean Kravas (Bill) of Vancouver, WA; brother-in-law Lawrence Lord of Alexander, ME; and sister-in-law Gloria Vining of North Windham, CT. She had many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to her parents and 7 siblings, Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Gordon Lord; son, Richard Lord; her granddaughter, Christina Hold; her grandson, Jacob Hold; and her son-in-laws, Mark Henry and Greg Hold.
Funeral services will be held at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais, ME on December 7th at 1:00 with a reception following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
