Obituary for Marshall Oliver Kinney

Perry and Oakland – Marshall Oliver Kinney, 89, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 24, 2010 surrounded by his family. Marshall was born in Perry on August 27, 1921, son of the late Leroy and Cora (Flood) Kinney. He worked as a woodsman and served his country in the U.S. Army. Marshall was a member of Perry Bible Fellowship, which originally started in his home in 1970. While living with his daughter in Oakland, he attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. Marshall enjoyed woodworking, gardening, canning, visiting friends and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for always being available to help friends and neighbors, and especially his work of the Lord. In addition to his parents, Marshall was predeceased by his loving wife Vera Alice (Renaud) Kinney; and a granddaughter, Bonnie Gail Johnson. Surviving are his sons, James and Sheila of Franklin, Eugene and Marilyn of Amherst, VA, Gary and Iva of Pembroke, Dana and Virginia of Summersville, SC, Dennis and Lorraine of Perry, Timothy and Lavada of Montoursville, PA, Terry and Dawn of Perry, Leroy and Karen of Auburn, MA, Gerry of Eddington, and Peter and Trinda of Sunrise, FL; daughters, Betty and Lewis Pottle of Gansevoort, NY, Marion and Brian Rice of Baileyville, Nancy and Skip Johnson of Perry, Deborah and Roger Bachand of Minot, and Linda and Don Niles of Oakland; 39 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lila Lyons and Eleanor Dolan, both of Florida; and one brother, Ernest Kinney of Poland Springs. Visiting hours will be held from 10 – 11 a.m. with a funeral service following at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Perry Bible Fellowship, 1292 U.S. Route 1, Perry. Burial will take place at Restlawn Cemetery, Perry. Donations in Marshall’s memory may be made to the Perry Bible Fellowship, 1292 U.S. Route 1, Perry, ME 04667, or the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 333 Oak St., Oakland, ME 04963.
